OUR STORY
A South African mycology collective
Harmonic Mycology was founded in 2015 out of one grower's need to make medicinal mushroom products available in South Africa. After experiencing the healing potential of mushrooms firsthand, founder Peter Herrmann spent years learning to cultivate and forage a wide variety of medicinal mushroom species — sourcing viable cultures was, by his own account, "extremely difficult," and the collective still works through failures years into the process.
Harmonic has since isolated nearly 20 indigenous strains from around South Africa and co-authored a scientific paper describing the country's own indigenous Lion's Mane. Every product is dual-extracted — hot water and alcohol — grown from their own cultures rather than bought in bulk.
